~Best 100 Miles in Backpacker Magazine~
When my wife finished with graduate school, we made one of the best decisions of our life, and struck off on a classic road trip through the American Southwest. It was a whirlwind tour, through some of the most striking vistas between Minnesota and Arizona, including this one from Zion National Park’s Angel’s Landing. To get there, we foolishly timed it so we were up on the 3,000 foot shark fin of stone just after noon when it was its hottest and the light was as harsh as it gets. When a bank of clouds rolled in, we were thankful for the respite from the hot sun, and the light softened like there was suddenly a beautiful softbox above the entire canyon, with blue skies to boot. One of the most memorable hikes I’ve ever taken. Read about it here.
